Metabolism is a word that the majority of dieters are well familiar with. People who battle with their weight are usually thought of as creating a "slow metabolism", exactly where those fortunate folks who seemingly should consume anything at all they wish and never gain weight are believed to enjoy a "fast metabolism".

Metabolic process - Defined
Metabolism is determined in the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary as "The value of the compound processes in a cell or perhaps organism, by what complex substances are synthesised as well as broken energy, growth, and down generation sustained".
A generally referred to phrase is BMR - the Basal Metabolism - i.e. the minimum amount of energy necessary to keep us in existence. At this time there are also other terms, like RMR - Resting Metabolism - that is basically the speed of the metabolism of ours during the day whilst carrying out regular daily jobs (i.e. standard daily activity); SMR - Sleeping Metabolic process - the rate of our metabolic rate whilst we're for sleep.
