FELINE STOMATITIS/LPGS
Feline Stomatitis is also known as Lymphocyte Plasmacytic Gingivitis Stomatitis (LPGS). LPGS is a terrible disease of the dental cavity in certain cats. These cats develop an allergic response to the plaque around the teeth of theirs. This specific response results in major inflammation at the junction where the tooth fulfills the gum line.
CAUSE
The specific cause is unknown. These cats are negative for Feline Leukemia and immunodeficiency Virus and The diet is not a consideration. Calici Virus has been found but its significance is not known. Certain purebreds including Abyssinians, Persians, Himalayans, Burmese, Somali and Siamese are prone.
SYMPTOMS
* Halitosis.
* Difficulty chewing hard food (may just eat soft foods).
